Comprehensive blood sciences service
AHVLA Scientific offers a comprehensive blood sciences service to veterinary surgeons and other customers.
Our specialist testing unit performs all the clinical chemistry and haematology tests on samples from farmed animals submitted to AHVLA.
Many of the tests are accredited to ISO 17025 and include a variety of blood biochemistry tests and a range of biochemical profiles including liver tissue, downer cows and trace elements.
There are also full automated blood screening tests for white and red blood cells, platelets etc.
Samples should be sent direct to AHVLA Shrewsbury, details of which can be found in the Commercial Diagnostic Tests Price List. This will help to maintain the quality of the sample and speed of reporting. Results will usually be returned via the nearest AHVLA Regional Laboratory where interpretation and follow-up support will be available if required.

AHVLA also offers a range of tests for purposes outside those listed above. These include:
- Submissions not appropriate for UK disease surveillance purposes.
- Tests on samples from companion animals.
- Animals outside the UK at the time of sampling.
