Be at the forefront of animal health and biological research

The veterinary biosciences programme at the University of Surrey provides excellent training for students intending to work in bioscience research, veterinary public health, veterinary research, and veterinary infectious diseases and diagnostics.

This programme is unique in being jointly run with the Veterinary Laboratories Agency (VLA) and the Institute for Animal Health (IAH).

Students will also benefit from:

  • A programme which offers a broad education in the biosciences, including the interface between human and veterinary medicine.
  • Opportunity to undertake a two-month summer research internship.
  • A professional training year placement at the VLA, IAH or a number of other veterinary institutes.
  • Opportunity to gain practical training in animal handling and husbandry.
  • A unique opportunity for top performing students to go on to study veterinary medicine at North Carolina State University.
