The Surveillance & Epidemiology Division provides veterinary surveillance and laboratory testing services.

The Division is led by Roger Hancock, the Veterinary Director.

Laboratory Services

Tests samples for the diagnosis of farm animal diseases for export certification and to demonstrate freedom from disease.

Veterinary Surveillance

Carries out veterinary surveillance of farm animal health and welfare in England and Wales.

The purpose of the surveillance is to monitor trends in diseases already in the UK, identify new and emerging diseases and complete risk assessments for control measures.
