AHVLA has announced the creation of a new independent advisory group to recommend a future delivery model for veterinary surveillance in England and Wales.

See the AHVLA news release - Independent review to develop future veterinary surveillance model.

Further information in the form of a detailed Q&A has also been published.

In addition two reports related to veterinary surveillance have also been published.

  • AHVLA’s Sustainable Surveillance Project’s (ASSP) ‘Sustaining Scanning Surveillance in England and Wales’ report, and
  • The Livestock and Poultry Veterinary Surgeons Surveillance Survey’s ‘Current and future surveillance of livestock and poultry in England and Wales: The perspective and engagement of the private veterinary surgeon.’

These documents represent some thinking concerning veterinary surveillance undertaken shortly before the merger of Animal Health and the Veterinary Laboratories Agency and raises issues that the Surveillance Model Project will be asking its Advisory Group to consider. Work regarding laboratory testing will be taken forward separately.

Both reports and further detailed information on the future delivery model for veterinary surveillance is available on the Surveillance Model Project page.
